Aaron Douglas, a veteran actor of TV and film, and known by most as Chief Galen Tyrol on the reimagined Battlestar Galactica TV series, will make an appearance Saturday November 6, 2010 at the JBL Theater at the EMP|SFM. He will participate in the screening of Episode 9 (‘Flight of the Phoenix’) from season 2, which was picked by Aaron as his favorite episode from the show.
‘Flight of the Phoenix’ shows Chief Tyrol dealing with his feelings toward Sharon by building a new fighter plane to replace one of the fallen Vipers. While the fighter is being built, Galactica must deal with a virus affecting its computers. The episode shows Sharon earning Commander Adama’s trust by helping the Galactica turn the virus against the Cylons, and ends with the revealing of the new fighter called the Blackbird. Following the screening, Aaron will participate in a Q&A with the public and hold an autograph session.
This screening is intended to start the Battlestar Galactica: Favorite Episode series at the EMP|SFM, where actors from the show will pick their favorite episode and have a Q&A with the public. These screenings are to give fans of the show events to go along with the Battlestar Galactica exhibit. Currently no other screenings appear on the calendar of the EMP|SFM, but fans should check the site regularly or subscribe to the events calender. The exhibit is planned to run until March 4, 2012, giving the museum plenty of time to bring more of these screenings.
Tickets can be purchased from Brown Paper Tickets for $5 dollars for EMP|SFM members and $10 dollars for the public. The event will start at 2:00 pm and run until 5:00 pm. This is an opportunity for fans to see an episode on the big screen with one of the main cast members of the show.
